My Experience
As A Chef
I started working in the catering industry when I was 16. After leaving college where I studied English Literature and Langauge, Drama and Media I decided a change of career was in order. I trained as a chef, completing an NVQ level 3 in professional cookery over the course of three years and winning two ‘Best Pub Food’ awards with the Western Daily Press during that time. My catering career continued with stints at a large catering company and a year spent working at a family-run Italian restaurant. Unable to resist the lure of cosy pub life, I spent a final three years working at small but lovely Inn on the edge of the Polden Hills. I left the industry in 2017 to focus on family life.
As A Blogger
While this blog is still in its infancy, it isn’t my first rodeo so to speak. As well as food being a huge passion of mine, I am also passionate about personal finance. If you’d like to see some of my money-related content, head over to www.savvyinsomerset.com where I focus on frugal living, saving money at the supermarket and making money from home. I have been writing at Savvy in Somerset for three years and in 2018 won the award for the U.Ks ‘Best Frugal & Thrift Blog’ at the annual SHOMO conference and awards.
